ABSTRACT: Language isn”t quite the way most people think, and linguistics, the scientific study of human language, isn”t either. In this lecture I discuss a few of the myths, and highlight a few of the key reasons for thinking that linguistics is important, and also stress the connections it has (as was recognized in Germany in the 19th century) to certain other discplines: philosophy, logic, psychology, and informatics.

Im Anschluss an den Vortrag findet ein Empfang statt. Wir freuen uns über Ihr Kommen!
