The Summer School is designed as a practice-oriented workshop series that provides an introduction to working with interactional data and to Conversation Analysis. Over the course of three days, internationally renowned scholars will introduce key theoretical concepts and practical analytical approaches for the systematic study of social action in interaction.
Following the workshops, a symposium and data sessions among the PhD researchers will provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of ongoing research projects. During these sessions, selected examples from current research projects will be jointly analysed, interpreted, and discussed with fellow researchers, fostering new perspectives and insights.

  The last day of the Summer School is reserved for presentations and data sessions to discuss ongoing research projects among PhD students. We invite proposals of interactional or conversation analytic studies for a talk (30 minutes) or data session (45 minutes).

In case you are interested in presenting your data during the symposium, please send us a short abstract (max. 500 words) by the same date.

Participants should bring their own laptops and pre-install the free versions of the following programmes:

In addition, please register with the Database for Spoken German (DGD/FOLK, dgd.ids-mannheim.de) well in advance of the summer school, as the workshop on prosody will use data from this database (details can be found in the workshop description above).
