Statistics (1): Preparing data for analysis – Data tidying and wrangling

Julia Müller

In this workshop, we learn how to prepare data, which is often messy when first collected, for subsequent analyses. The data wrangling functions encompass renaming, arranging, and subsetting data, creating new columns and changing the content of existing ones (including if-else and case-when statements), and joining several data frames into one. Finally, we conclude with an overview of data tidying operations such as joining and separating columns, and reshaping data by pivoting to and from long and wide formats.
